Mo Schuster recently sat across the table from a young couple whose baby was taken away because they were on heroin. Mo says, “My ministry work at Child Protective Services is low pay and I see people at their lowest. Its my job is to help these parents work on their stuff in drug rehab, mental health services and also parenting classes. That includes showing them love and encouragement. I don't know what horror they may have endured. I tell them, 'I don't judge you. There’s no shame in the past. It’s about moving past this and getting you back with your baby and on to a better life.’ I tell them, ‘You have the hard work to do getting off drugs and doing the healing. My job is to get you the resources and fight for you in court.' And I share with them one of Brene Browns quotes: We can do hard things...I can do hard things."
