Major Kelly Collins is Divisional Commander for the Heartland Division of the Salvation Army. Her mission is preaching the Gospel of Jesus and meeting human needs in his name without discrimination.
What that mission looks like to Kelly Collins is expressed through the work of about 375 employees and hundreds of volunteers across 28 communities. The 24 program sites she guides offer homeless shelters, transitional housing, feeding programs and food pantries, after school programs, summer camp, rent/utility assistance, and disaster relief. In 2015, the Heartland Division provided services to more than 150,000 individuals and families, fed over 1500 people each day with more than 550,000 meals, and provided 64,291 nights of lodging at its homeless shelters.
